Tuesdays with Dave | April 8th Edition Happy Tuesday, Let me walk you into a moment that I think most of us have had in some form or another. I was talking with an agent this week—let’s call him Steve. Sharp guy, successful, dialed in. His business is running like a finely tuned engine right now. Listings are flowing, clients are happy, and he’s got an admin that he trusts completely. So when I mentioned that we’re hosting Career Visioning this Thursday, April 10th, from 9 to 5 at the Loudoun Gateway Market Center, he gave me this look and said, “Honestly, I just don’t need it right now.” It was a fair response. I mean, if you’re in rhythm, if your support system is solid, if you’re not feeling pain—why fix what isn’t broken, right? But that’s when I hit him with it: “Steve, this—right now—is exactly when you need to go.” He paused. You could almost see the wheels turning. That split second where realization peeks in through the side door. Because here’s the deal: the worst time to take a class like Career Visioning is when you’re in need. When the house is already on fire, it’s too late to install a sprinkler system. What Career Visioning is really about—what it’s always been about—is building your bench before the game even starts. What Career Visioning Really Teaches You At its core, Career Visioning is Keller Williams’ flagship training for identifying, attracting, and retaining the right people. It’s about turning hiring into a skill, not a hope. You learn to create a vision for your organization, build a profile of who fits into that, and then reverse-engineer the hiring process to bring those people in—not just for the job, but for the journey. We’re not talking about surface-level stuff like “can they answer phones” or “do they know how to work a CRM.” That’s the easy part. This is deeper. This is about figuring out how someone thinks, how they handle pressure, whether they’ll grow with you or grow out of you. The program centers around the KPA—the Keller Personality Assessment—which, frankly, is one of the most powerful tools I’ve ever seen in hiring. It doesn’t just show you strengths and weaknesses—it paints a picture of who someone is under the hood. It gives you the ability to ask questions that reveal whether someone really fits your team, your standards, your mission. And here’s the kicker—you also learn more about yourself. Your leadership style. Your blind spots. Your communication patterns. It’s a mirror as much as it is a magnifying glass. Why You Should Come When Things Are Going Well This is what I tried to help Steve see. When your business is in chaos, you’re hiring reactively. You’re grabbing resumes in desperation, hoping someone will just show up and help put out the fire. But when your business is calm? When you’ve got systems and structure and your team’s performing? That’s the time to refine. That’s when you get to be picky, when you can train without a ticking clock, when you can make a hire based on potential and alignment—not urgency. And what happens if you don’t? Let’s say your admin, the rock of your operation, decides to make a career shift. Moves across the country. Gets recruited by another team. Whatever the reason—suddenly, in the middle of a high-octane spring market, you’re down a person. And if you haven’t been interviewing, if you haven’t built relationships with potential hires, if you don’t have resumes on deck or KPAs already reviewed—then you’re playing defense. That’s when mistakes happen. Career Visioning teaches you to never be in that position. It trains you to always be in a mindset of “who’s next?” You’re constantly scouting, analyzing, asking the right questions, understanding what kind of talent elevates your organization and what kind doesn’t. You start looking at every coffee meeting, every networking event, every random conversation as a potential future hire. You’re building a bench. And when the time comes, you won’t have to scramble—you’ll already have your person. And It Doesn’t Stop There The beauty of Career Visioning is that it’s just the start. After you’ve got the right person, we teach you how to train them with our 30-60-90 framework. How to align goals, set expectations, and turn potential into performance. Then comes Success Through Others—how to develop leaders, how to duplicate yourself, how to grow an organization that isn’t reliant on your constant input. It’s a leadership pipeline. And it starts with one decision—to be intentional about who you let in the front door. Steve thought about all this. Took a breath. Nodded. “You’re right,” he said. “I’ve been comfortable. Maybe too comfortable.” There’s no shame in that. We all work hard to build something that runs well. But you don’t stay on top by coasting. You stay on top by preparing for what’s next. That’s what this training is about. So if you’re reading this and your business is in a good place—come. If you’ve got a full team, a solid admin, and things are smooth—come. Not because you’re struggling. But because you’re not. This is the moment to level up. This is the moment to future-proof your business. And who knows? That one conversation you have next Thursday, that one person you meet, that one question you learn to ask—that could be the thing that changes everything. Career Visioning Training
