Happy Tuesday Everyone, I am going to go a little off topic today and talk about something we have all either seen, experienced, or participated in…Bullying or Cyberbullying. Bullying is unique as it is something you could have been involved with all three of what I mentioned above… I had someone in my world affected this recently and I hope you don’t mind my thought son the subject. We have been visiting the idea of your Brand and what that means in your business and this topic today also applies to your Brand although it will and can affect your business, I want to discuss how it can affect your personal brand and your brand as a human being. Cyber Bullying can take many shapes often and an impassioned opinion or opposition, about any topic imaginable, pandemic, religion, politics, sex, race, too many feel a personal option should be expressed or forced onto others through Email, Text, Social Media, Online Reviews, Business Reviews, Graphics, Jokes, release of personal information to make a point and call someone out in order to make yourself fell better or advance a thought or attack a competitor with a varying option, what will that accomplish other then personal satisfaction and potential emotional destruction or you or someone else reputation The ability to do All of these through the computer or digital device has made it to easy and almost emotionless in thought process of actions. The intent may not be there however it is and can often be expressed or interpreted not as intended. Yet you have to ask your self was the topic appropriate to participate in? How does what you say move the conversation forward in a positive direction and provide value to you, your business, your friends, and or family…it was too easy to lose yourself. I grew up in a world where bullying was mostly, physical, and emotional through of salacious rumors spread word by of mouth. Something I personally suffered from and experienced for many years while growing up. It has shaped me and affected me in ways that I struggle to understand even to this day. When I see the world today and I look at what people say to each other from afar I often wonder how I would have dealt with my youth in the current landscape, most adults don’t know how to handle a personal attack now imagine being a teenager. We can all help stop…our kids hear and see what we say and post online, it matters. Shy away from a joke or demeaning content and support those in your relationship world and technological footprint. Be conscious of what is happening step up to defend, reach out to those you see are being harmed, reach out to those you know that may be the aggressor. Don’t engage from any of those positions online. Pick up the phone and talk and if you see something wrong notify someone. Technology Leverage can be dangerous and damaging on a level many will not fully comprehend. Please BE KIND, BE THOUGHTFUL, and more time than not BE QUIET and LISTEN and RESPECT others’ opinions. You do not always need to be heard. Technology Leverage is a gift and boon for our business when utilized for good and coming from contribution. Embrace technology and use it properly.
